Boulder Shooting | Donations

For those interested in making a donation to help the families of victims and Law Enforcement, there are a couple ways that we have found;

1:
https://www.boulderoem.com/emergency-status/
The above link was set up as an official list of donation sites for the victims of the shooting. There are apparently a lot of fake GoFundMe and other donation accounts that may be scams. The above link comes direct from the Boulder PD Facebook Page.

2:
https://www.bouldercounty.org/safety/sheriff/fallen-officer-fund/
The above link is the Boulder County Injured & Fallen Officer Fund from the Boulder County website. It is a Colorado 501(c)(3), tax-exempt, charitable organization. And is described on the website at; “Your tax exempt donation benefits Boulder County law enforcement members who become seriously injured or killed in the line-of-duty. Support extends to the injured Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) or surviving family members: spouse, parent, significant partner, or children. “

Weirdest Job-Related Searches

A new study looked at Google Trends to find the most unique job-related things each state googles more than any other state.  Here are the highlights . . .

1.  Hating your job is a theme throughout:  Arizona’s top search is, “What should I do with my life?” . . . Colorado’s is “quarter life crisis” . . . New Yorkers can’t stop googling “hate my boss” . . . Pennsylvania is looking for “sleeping at work” advice . . . Oregon’s top search is “how to call in sick” . . . and Connecticut wants to know “how to get fired.”

2.  Several states are looking for something a little easier:  Kentucky’s top search is “easy jobs” . . . Virginia wants the “LEAST stressful job” . . . Delaware just wants to know “how to win the lottery” . . . New Jersey’s top search is “how to become a billionaire” . . . and Maryland wants to know if you can “get paid to watch Netflix.”

3.  A few states have very specific work-related searches:  Louisiana wants “Cajun jobs” . . . people in Tennessee are looking for careers at the store “Hot Topic” . . . Texans are interested in the “corporate GOTH” look, and also “how to become a cowboy” . . . and the phrase “cheese jobs” is popular in Wisconsin.

Angriest Sports Fans

A study analyzed posts and reactions from more than a dozen sports . . . to determine which one had the ANGRIEST fans on Twitter.  Surprisingly, it’s one of the CALMEST sports:  Golf.  (Maybe it’s all the pent-up rage?)

Here’s the Top 10:

1.  Golf.  42% of all Tweets about golf were classified as “angry” comments.

2.  Soccer, 28%

3.  MLB, 26%

4.  NFL, 21%

5.  Boxing, 19%

6.  NHL, Formula One, and competitive DARTS (???) are all tied at 13% . . . Of all the sports, I think I’d LEAST like to encounter angry dart throwers.

9.  Cycling, 11%

10.  NBA and Rugby, 9%

12.  Tennis, 8%

13.  Cricket, 4%

Golf is also #1 among Tweets with a “Wow” reaction.  11% of golf Tweets are classified that way.  It’s tied with Cycling, which also has 11%.

Competitive darts is next at 9%, which is tied with Tennis and Formula One.  Apparently, fans in the four biggest U.S. sports are too busy being angry or sad to be sharing their AWE.

Speaking of upset fans, NBA fans share the most “Sad” Tweets.  38% are categorized that way.  MLB fans are next at 34%.

And the sport with the HAPPIEST fans?  That would be Boxing.  37% of Boxing Tweets are happy.  Soccer is next at 31%, followed by Golf at 23%.

The fans sharing the most “Love” Tweets . . . heart-eyed emoji-style . . . is a tie between the NHL and Cricket.  58% of the Tweets from those sports are all love.

Valentine Sweets – By State

America’s favorite Valentine candy is . . . FRUIT?  Someone looked at Google stats to find the Valentine’s Day treat each state searches for more than other states do.  And chocolate-covered strawberries rank first. Here in Colorado, we apparently prefer the #2 treat…M&M’s. I can live with that.

1.  Chocolate strawberries with 10 states.  (Georgia, Illinois, Mississippi, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.)

2.  M&M’s, eight states.  (Arizona, Colorado, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Wyoming.)

3.  Edible chocolate roses, also eight states.  (Alabama, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oregon, and Washington.)

4.  Chocolate truffles, five states.  (Connecticut, Louisiana, Montana, New Hampshire, and Wisconsin.)

5.  Dove Chocolate, five states.  (Alaska, Delaware, Hawaii, Minnesota, and Utah.)

6.  Conversation Hearts, four states.  (Iowa, Maine, Michigan, and North Dakota.)

7.  Hershey Kisses, four states.  (Arkansas, Florida, Indiana, and South Dakota.)

8.  California is the only state where “candy necklaces” are first . . . New York and Texas love “heart-shaped chocolates” . . . and a “box of chocolates” is #1 in Idaho, Kansas, and South Carolina.

A separate study looked at our favorite things to get in a box of chocolate.  The top three are caramel . . . chocolate-covered nuts . . . and chocolate-covered toffee.  (Zippia / YouGov)  (Here’s a map of all 50 states.)

Deer – In The Air Tonight

After playing this song today, I was reminded of this clumsy (yet talented) deer. So I had to re-visit this video, set to “In The Air Tonight” by Phil Collins. The audio is lined up so the deer trips on the slide and ends up doing the best drum breakdown ever.

The best part may be how modestly he walks it off. The deer equivalent to a mic drop?
